FAQ: Milk Shares (Milk CSA)

In this post we'll answer the most frequently asked questions about our milk CSA.

COVID-19 Update: All milk jugs will be labeled with your name going forward.

What is it?

A weekly commitment to amazing wholesome A2 milk from our partners, Colorado Cow. Your purchase gets you a certain amount of milk set aside each week. Barring any unforeseen events, like a major predator incident, or weather event, your supply is ready for you to pick up each week on the same day.

How does it work?

You pay your first month when you enroll. After, you will automatically be charged on the same day every month. For example, if you enroll on the 10th of the month, you'll always be charged the 10th of the month.

How do I sign up for a certain day of the week pick up?

Unfortunately our website doesn't have an option to let you make a selection while you are completing your enrollment. To keep things simple, everyone in the program will have pick up starting on Friday and will have a 6 day pick up window.

What are pick up hours?

Pick up hours are 9am-6pm everyday.

Is there a grace period for pick ups?

Yes! We will hold your milk for 6 days.

Let's run through an average week. Your milk will be set out in the farm stand on Friday. You'll have until the close of business the following Thursday to get your milk. The next morning, on a Friday, all the leftover milk will be cleaned out to make room for the coming week's shares. Any leftover milk will be donated back to the farm (aka fed to the livestock guardian dogs and pigs).

With so many shares to make room for, we simply don' have space to hold product for longer.

What If I miss a pick up?

Sometimes it happens! Unfortunately we aren't able to do partial refunds on missed pick ups or make up missed product on later weeks. You will be charged full price for the month and your eggs will be made available to you for 6 days.

What if I'm on vacation?

Lucky you! We hope you have a great trip. With enough notice, we are able to be more flexible. Let us know with as much notice as possible by sending us an email at info@skypilotfarm.com and we'll let you know what we can do.

If its a short notice situation, unfortunately we aren't able to do partial refunds on missed pick ups. We will hold your milk for the standard 6 day window, though.

Can someone else pick up for me?

Yes! You can send over anyone your like if you are unable to make your pick up or want to share the love. You don't need to notify us, though you certainly can.

You are responsible for making sure your alternate pick up person knows the rules:

1. Pick up hours are 9am-6pm

2. Milk is available Friday through Thursday

3. No wandering outside the parking area.

Can I look around while I'm here?

Unfortunately, no. We love having people out to see how their food is raised, but touring the farm is by appointment only.

At any given time, the farm is a blur of activity which includes lots of heavy machinery, large and unpredictable animals, irrigation canals, electric fences, sharp objects, guard dogs, an easement for county maintenance trucks, and wildlife. We can't make it safe for visitors at all times, so please stay within the farm stand and parking area during pick-ups.

If you'd like to set up a time to bring your family out to ask some questions and learn more about our agriculture practices, we welcome you to arrange a time by sending us an email at info@skypilotfarm.com. Join our email list to get notified when we do on farm tours and events.

Can I bring guests to pick up?

Of course! Just remember everyone needs to stay in the parking area during your pick up.

Can I bring my dog to pick ups?

Sort of.... please keep dogs in your car if you bring them with you. Our livestock guardian dogs are very uncomfortable having unfamiliar dogs loose around their livestock. Our dogs are friendly with people, but your dog looks like a coyote to them.

How do I cancel my milk share?

To cancel, send us an email at info@skypilotfarm.com to let us know. Once we cancel your subscription, you'll receive an email confirmation and refund.

About Us

At some point during our one-millionth trek up four flights of stairs to take our dog out to play, we realized that where we were wasn’t really where we wanted to be. We longed for the open spaces we had enjoyed as children in rural America, and for more space to play fetch with our Australian Shepherd, Charlie.
